Innovative latchbolt projection mechanism
Featuring an innovative latch bolt projection mechanism, where you can select between the standard 15mm latch bolt extension or an extended 19.5mm, which fires further into the strike than your typical mortice lock design. This boosts security and resistance to jemmying attacks while offering the flexibility to tailor the lock to your specific needs. If there is insufficient space in the frame to accommodate the extra latch throw, the feature can be deactivated on installation.
Even when the extended throw is activated, the innovative design reduces the risk of latch bolt jamming and ensures enhanced security with every use. Additionally, the mortice lock’s improved deadlatch design activates with a gap of up to 9.5mm between the strike face and the lock mounting face plate. However, at installation, the gap between the strike face and the lock mounting face plate must be between 3mm and 5mm to ensure proper functionality and security.
The lock is suitable for doors ranging from 32mm to 50mm in thickness, but can accommodate doors up to 100mm thick with additional accessories.

Fire-rated and rigorously tested, Carbine’s Longreach mortice lock is designed for lasting durability, safety, and unparalleled security. It has been tested to the equivalent of S8 under Australian Mechanical Lock Standards, assessing the lock’s resistance of bolt to end pressure, hub to torque, bolt to horizontal impact and latch bolt to static force.
It has also been tested to the equivalent of D8 under Australian Mechanical Lock Standards, including tests on latching cycles, deadlocking cycles, key operation cycles, door furniture cycles and more. Notably, its latching cycle exceeds D8 standards, having been tested for over 1 million cycles.
In addition to the mortice lock’s strength and durability, it is crafted with a careful selection of materials, ensuring a stylish design, high corrosion resistance, and enhanced functionality.
For added versatility, the mortice lock’s functionality can be further customised by pairing it with Carbine’s unique XZ cam, which locks and unlocks the locking bar and retracts the latch bolt.
